چکیده

Background Mild behavioural impairment (MBI) is proposed as a diagnostic construct to identify dementia-free individuals with sustained neuropsychiatric symptoms an early manifestation of dementia. Our previous study has demonstrated that MBI predicts faster cognitive decline and progression Other studies have shown was associated Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers for Aβ tau. However, cerebrovascular (CeVD), which another critical pathology in dementia, not been investigated MBI. Here, we sought test brain free-water (FW) alterations, marker CeVD, compared non-MBI participants their associations longitudinal changes cognition, function, symptoms. Method Longitudinal global scores, clinical dementia rating sum-of-boxes (CDR-SoB), inventory (NPI) over 5 years were reported 281 (40 241 non-MBI). diagnosed using established criteria. All underwent T1-weighted structural diffusion MRI at baseline. FW imaging method applied derive individual-level white matter (WM) grey (GM) maps from MRI. We baseline GM-FW WM-FW between subjects. then tested the MBI-related increase CDR-SB, NPI scores linear regression models. Result had greater executive control (prefrontal), motor sensory (precentral), attention (insula) memory (left temporal right cingulate cuneus) networks widespread higher (Fig-1). Both lower across all (Table-1). There no interaction effect status on such association. Moreover, worsening (Table-2). Interestingly, than (Fig-2). Conclusion This increased FW, may contributed relationship persistent disturbances outcomes. Early detection cerebrovascular-related alteration allow timely management before development

Effect of Brain Training on Cognitive Performance in Elderly Women Diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment

Background: Cognitive impairment profoundly influences on older adults’ activities and quality of life. Therefore, optimizing and remediating age-associated cognitive decline have great importance. Objectives: To evaluate the effect of 8 weeks (3 day /week) computer based brain training on cognitive performance in old women with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Materials and Methods...

Identification of mild cognitive impairment disease using brain functional connectivity and graph analysis in fMRI data

Background: Early diagnosis of patients in the early stages of Alzheimer's, known as mild cognitive impairment, is of great importance in the treatment of this disease. If a patient can be diagnosed at this stage, it is possible to treat or delay Alzheimer's disease. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is very common in the process of diagnosing Alzheimer's disease. In th...

Mild behavioral impairment: A prodromal stage of dementia

Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) was defined by Petersen et al. (1999) as progressive memory loss, a prodrome of Alzheimer's disease. MCI is a well-established entity that can be both a diagnosis in medical practice and a valid target of Alzheimer's prevention therapy. More recently MCI has expanded to include other cognitive domains with other potential causes: amnestic MCI, multiple domains MC...

Risk factors for behavioral abnormalities in mild cognitive impairment and mild Alzheimer's disease.

BACKGROUND Behavioral symptoms are common in both mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD). METHODS We analyzed the Neuropsychiatric Inventory Questionnaire data of 3,456 MCI and 2,641 mild AD National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center database participants. Using factor analysis and logistic regression we estimated the effects of age, sex, race, education, Mini-Mental State...

Apolipoprotein E polymorphism and brain morphology in mild cognitive impairment.

BACKGROUND The apolipoprotein E (ApoE) genotype has been confirmed as the major genetic risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD). How the ApoE genotype and brain morphology relate to each other is only partly understood, particularly in mild cognitive impairment, the assumed prestage of AD. METHODS A total of 83 subjects with mild cognitive impairment (aging-associated cognitive de...
